Either partridge, pheasant, and venison stew al-la Dave Budd, or Thai style slow cooked beef with herb dumplings.

One of our family favorites is Fajitas. Really easy to cook while out and about as it is basically stir fried in one pan but feels like 'real food' rather than a camping one pot meal.
Personally I think vegetable kebabs and salmon fillet (or another fish to your preference) BBQed over the fire with a hot buttered bannock takes a bit of beating.

One of my favourite meals is quite a simple 1 but tasty.

Good quality beef burgers, bacon and cheese,
Jacket spuds in the fire with cheese.

You then have bacon cheese burgers and jacket pots with cheese.

    Nice simple tasty meal

well if it helps, I was doing a bit shopping this after and noticed that Tesco is stocking "Look what we found" ready meals, I've got one to try but I thought if you can get them from the local supermarket it would save going to all the trouble of getting them by mail order and if you only have to get one it ,doesn't hit your pocket so much if you don't like that particular one, I'll try the bolognese I bought and let you know.

thanks for that, I suppose you could boil some rice to bulk it up, and depending on what you are doing, camping or hiking and how long you are going to be out, a couple in your pack are always handy as a backstop and quick if you've had a long day

I've found that a nice big crusty roll bulks meals out well, weighs very little and survives in a rucksac pretty well.
