    Yeah I was gonna say, the only down side is that spear/drop point blades aren't the best if you need to pierce through something. How about something from CRKT? Columbia River Knife & Tool co. They make a very nice cheaply priced lightweight framelock blade called Pazoda.

    i have since had a look at EKA swede 8 , with a bubinga wood handle , very tempted by that , lovely looking knife, slightly above what i was hoping to pay , but i could be tempted lol , i will have a look at CRKT knives now , thanks mate

    Hello,

    Have a look at some of Ben Orford's videos, he recommends wet and dry paper for sharpening.

    I have tried this with various grades glued to some ply wood and it works very well. I use 800, 1200 and 3000 grits before stropping on a leather belt. He also has a good video on how to sharpen crook knives.
