    Spotted Woodpecker

On a recent bimble along the Titchfield Canal I came across a very noisy Woodpecker. After a little searching I spotted this fella through a small gap in the tree canopy..

    Lovely picture.
Sometimes it can be hard getting good quality images of birds - no sooner do you have the camera out than off they go!

I've noticed an increase in the numbers of greater spotted woodpeckers this year.
Earlier in the year, whilst out for a casual stroll, I was lucky enough to see a greater spotted, lesser spotted, and green woodpecker all in the same day - all three of our native woodpeckers all in one day!
