I was splitting logs when I found this log with amazing patterns under the bark. I had seen it before, but never as much as this. I asked the guys on the Bodgers forum what caused it and it seems its the cambium layer under the bark forming random patterns that end up as burls in the tree..

"Burl" isE,r isn't burr the American name. To be honest, I've heard both over here, but usually we think of "burr" as the wire edge on a blade during the sharpening process.
