    Short hike on Mt. Lemmon

Lady Dog.Breath & I took the day off and took the dogs for a little hike up on the Mt. Lemmon Trail in the Santa Catalina Mountains above Tucson. Nice little forest trail in the pines with some aspen trees. It was a really fine day, with temps in the low 70s up on the mountain.

Good day to take a nap in the sun.

Looking south, across Tucson, to the Santa Rita Mountains, 60-some miles away.

For the gear junkies, here's what I carried with me: NATO canteen & crusader cup, Nalgene USGI bottle, silk bandana, cotton bandana, deerskin gloves, small FAK, headlamp, couple hanks of paracord, my Bernie Garland knife, an ultra-light tarp/poncho, snacks.

All of that fits nicely in this surplus haversack (supposedly Bulgarian, pre-WWII):

And it rides pretty comfy, at least for the few miles we walked today.

Glad you guys have enjoyed the pics. I can't wait for it to be down in the 70s & 80s down here in the city - it's still been in the high 90s & 100s! Supposedly it'll be cooling off this weekend...
