    Mystery Fungus

Out for a walk today and I passed a patch of trees (Ash) with this fungus on them. The biggest was the best part of 18 inches across.
Anyone know what it is and any info on it?
    Cheers.

Woohoo, finally a subject that I'm actually pretty good at - fungi!!

As has already been said, it's Dryads Saddle (Polyporus Squamosus), it's also know as "pheasants back" fungi due to its similar appearance to that of a Hen Pheasant.

It is edible when fried slowly when young and fresh, but as it gets older it has all the edibility of a deep fried Rhinos arse cheek!!
