    Red face Talking to Buzzards

Had a beautiful moment the other day; was up early on sunny winter's morning to go to a local wood to do some filming for NBC. The location was a beautiful old Cornish Quarry that has been reclaimed by Nature with woods surrounding it, I climbed a hill overlooking this quarry (which has filled with spring-waters to create a lovely lake), whilst I looked out across this beautiful sight, sun rising, lake iced over, I whistled my cheesy buzzard call on the off chance, low'n'behold two Buzzards responded instantly.

Two Buzzard calls came back, one on my right further away and another closer beyond the ridge across on the other side of the quarry to me, a few seconds later a giant buzzard swoops up from the field behind the ridge and lands on the tallest tree overlooking the lake & looking right at me, he was a beaut and it was a magical little moment that made me feel part of Nature, knowing that I had called that beautiful bird there and he had come to investigate.

This isn't a photo from the same day, this is instead a photo I took of a Buzzard on my last trip to Dartmoor.

They really are magical animals, I tend to see them very regularly too, to me they are sort of guardians of the wild and symbolise everything I hold dear about the outdoors...

Yeah they are stunning, powerful, beautiful birds, tons of them around Cornwall too. You might appreciate the photos I took of a buzzard on our recent Dartmoor trip then, they're toward the bottom of this gallery: http://picasaweb.google.com/NaturalB...msTripOct2010#
