shot the first bunny of 2015 and then spent the evening in the kitchen butchering it ready for the pot whilst my dog watched on intently, making all manner of "hungry" faces!

Picked up 4 lidl folding saws very impressed with them.
Been out in the shed giving the Wetterlings hatchet it's first linseed oil. Wetterlings has probably oiled it, but I will run it trough 1 coat of oil every day for a week. Then one coat of oil a week for a month, then once a month for a year :-)

That's clearly one well loved hatchet
For my part I sprayed my lavvu with Fabsil and taped a little hole up as well. It's needed sealing and repairing since I bought it but just got round to it today. Have never had to waterproof a tent before and had no idea how much to spray onto it for it to be effective. Not too concerned - have been rained on camping in it before (nothing heavy or persistent) and it has handled it just fine without proofing. Kept my gear and myself well away from the hole of course...

I like to take care of my kit. That it will last longer is just a part of it. I just like the job involved in maintaining stuff. In the fishing season I dismantle my Ambassadeur reels at least once a month and lube them up. And I give them a good rinse after every trip. It does not mean that I keep my things spotless. Everything I own has the mark of good use on them :-)

Having moved offices, I'm now lucky enough to actually have an outside window. It's east facing so I've done a few quick navigational experiments.
1. Used my watch to get direction but had to use a shadow (rather than the sun)
2. Used a stick shadow with about 4 reference points
3. Used a stick shadow using about 8 reference points
4. Used my watch (point hour hand to sun & bisect angle between 12:00 etc)
Other than #1 I'm impressed by the accuraccy.
