Yup. Good film, I remember seeing that many years ago. If you ever get the chance to see one of those canoes up close,
you'll be amazed at the symmetry achieved from freehand work. Mind you, the maintenance required is a bit more frequent
than my kevlar unit!
If you ever find yourself in southern Ontario, check out the Canadian Canoe Museum.
BTW, birches big enough to build canoes are harder to find than they used to be. I know where there are a couple
near our hunt camp, I just wish I had that old guy's knowhow and energy...
