This is part of the River Cottage Handbook series being No.7 of that series.

This book gives a good description of around seventy plants that can be gathered from the British countryside. It includes details of the habitat in which you might find each plant, it's distribution around the country and the time of year best to gather. Each entry has good information about the history of the plants use and makes known any toxic plants you might possibly mistake them for while foraging for them.

There's a good piece on the laws regarding foraging, a section on toxic plants to avoid and the last section is full of recipes to use all your foraged goodies.

I like the way it concentrates on a relatively small number of species that are worth foraging for, rather than trying to show all plants that can be eaten, but may well taste absolutely dire. Well worth adding to the bookshelves.
