Hi, i was just wondering how people rate SOG equipment (i know some of there knives are a bit extream)... i have currently been using a SOG PowerAssist Multi-tool and its great, just wondering if there knives live up to the same quality.

I have a SOG Flash 2 assisted opener and it is great (although not street legal).
But for a one handed opener it's a winner. I must say tho that I wouldn't use it for anything heavy duty.

I had SOG Seal knife but swapped it for a Böker European Hunter as it was a bit too Rambo-esque for me. Had much more use out of the Boker, but the SOG was well made and would've lasted a lifetime (if looked after).
If you're after a decent knife, I'd either do down the Scandinavian route or speak to Canadian Mike (on here) as he's making some real beauties these days.
Hope this helps.

thanks for the replys guys!!
Ade, i would agree with you on that, my PowerAssist is the same.
Steve, yeah that does help thank you...
any ideas on blade size for a bushcraft knife?
cheers, Dave
You shouldn't need more than 3 to 4 inches (depending on the blade thickness) for most basic tasks but bear in mind that different blades are suited to different tasks, so there's no 'perfect' size. My guideline is for a general purpose blade.

Why not buy ablade and make you'r own mutch more satisfaction when you use sumthing you'v made,If you buy the blade in itll be heat treeted and come razer sharp,if you want to go that way let me now I can recamend a cupal of place's (I am not linked to the place's,Have a look at my profile I make my ownAtb Jefferson..............DONT GET EATEN BY THE BEARS..................TONY...........
I like the SOG Seal Pup, but I can't comment on performance, never had a SOG knife.
Theyare too much on the "rambo" look for my taste. They are decent for the cost. I would find a local dealer in a bushcraft style knife, you'll be much happier.
mind over matter...if you don't mind...it doesn't matter
SOG makes a high quality knife.I have several and wouldn't trade them for anything. I guess my favorite is an old school N.W Ranger with partial serrations.
