    Hi Jake,

    Welcome to the community.

Fantastic opportunity -to experience Cape York. My dad was a cattle herder in Queensland back in the first half of the 1900s and had the opportunity a couple of times to travel that far North. He said that it was an amazing, wild place (he was the sort of bloke who travelled with just a horse, a rifle, a billy can, a blanket, a knife, a cow dog and a guitar, and had travelled by horse and lived rough all over Queensland, so if he was impressed by the area it must have been very special!).

There aren't too many people who get the chance to experience that sort of wilderness any more, so have a great time cobber. Hope you get a really experienced old-hand to show you around the area and get you bushcrafting -

Take this advice I was given by my dad, the old-time cow herder - Whatever good experiences come along in life - learn everything you can while you have the chance, ask the experts (who generally know all sorts of really cool, interesting stuff) for lots of help, information and advice, and have a go at everything you are given the opportunity to do.

Maybe you can take some photos for us and let us know how it went!

    Lucy

Every mile on a river takes you further from home than every hundred miles on a road.

I hope thats a birchbark canoe in your pocket.... - I guess i should give some credit to Metal Mug
