But I use a Moral clipper stainless and an Opinal carbon steel knife and in the field I just use a piece of fine wet & dry paper which is glued to the back of my Mora knife sheath as the means to restore an edge on my knives plus a strop on the back of my leather belt.
I've known a few people to do it that way. especially the opinel, as it has a flat grind. Plus the scandinavian grind of the mora is almost as easy to get an ok edge before the strop. In my opinion, if it gets the edge sharp and you don't upset the grind, it's perfectly fine.
