    Hey, welcome to the community.

Dartmoor is a beautiful place to go hiking and camping, if you are interested in it then this give this whole area of their website a read: http://www.dartmoor.gov.uk/enjoy-dar...vities/camping

Get yourself a OS Map covering Dartmoor & a compass and learn how to navigate using them if you don't already know how, its a important and useful skill to know and wont fail you like a mobile phone if the battery runs out. Also worth remembering that smart-phones will run out of battery a lot quicker if you use GPS and Map based Apps on them.

A another important skill to learn with your map is to learn how to locate yourself on it so that you can give someone your grid-reference, this is useful to A) Let someone know the grid-reference you plan/hope to be camping in or around and B) If you needed to call for help it is important to be able to relay your exact position.

If your not familiar with giving a grid-reference then watch this video:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0du8v4EE_Y
And then this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXuo_ocVMVU <-- This one is more important but the first one is a nice intro.

Make sure you clean-up after yourself, don't leave mess where you camp.

It is starting to get colder now, so make sure you are prepared. If your not yet a very experienced camper then perhaps go with someone who does have a little more experience and ask for their advice / help on kit. Perhaps do a trial-run closer to home if you are unsure of certain bits of kit.

Here is a video I made of a camping trip me and some friends had on Dartmoor, features some of Dartmoor's wildlife & a bit of fun in the rivers:

    Happy camping!
