Good timing; my keyring light needs replaced, I'll have a look at these.

Looks like the latter is basically a button cell with an LED. You can make them easily by just holding the legs of the LED onto the front and back of the button cell.
10 LEDs for 78p: https://www.banggood.com/10pcs-5mm-3...e-p-73162.html
5 button cells for £1.57: https://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-5...l-p-68613.html
Fun to play with if you're that way inclined.

Thats basically what they are, but why mess about, ten 'ready made' work out at 25p each, they also come with an on/off switch. I did a group buy on these a few years ago, had no complaints from the users. I ordered 250 and from that had two that were duff and didn't work...no big deal. I clipped them onto keyring's, zip pulls, rucksacks et al...very handy.

They (your link) are indeed cheaper - especially if you start adding the cost of the switch and the ring/chain. Very very cheap. The home-made option just means you can fiddle about with options such as more LEDs or a bigger battery/more batteries. But then it becomes less of a key chain item. Nice to have options though.

Cheers for the link gents.

Bernie, I'm a radio ham and love messing about with electronics sometimes, but not little LED torches LOL
