    Also, where's best to park for Loch Ken mate ? Looking at heading towards the woodlands near Cairn Edward Hill if you know of it ?

    I usually park at the galloway activity centre on the edge of loch ken. They charge £5 for a weekend but at least its safe. For that you also get to use the shower facilities etc if you want to. I'm usually canoe camping in the area hence parking there. If you park in new galloway your'e only about 1.5 miles from the nearest forested ares which is handy.
    I've not heard of cairn edward hill mate so can't help you ther sorry.
