Hello all
Was thinking about going to the Wilderness Gathering. I've never been but I figured seeing as I missed the Bushcraft Show I'd give it a go. So first up anyone else going and second......
Collected some natural firelighting materials and lifted some weights (I really do need to get back into bushcrafting shape[not the Ray Mears shape tho])
If there is one thing, in terms of bushcraft, that I'm just no good at its sharpening blades. No matter what I do they all end up butter knifes... :(

Just got back from town having discovered 99p Stores folding saws... worth a try.

And just found some Sterno style ethanol stoves in the local bits and bobs shop... bargain. Will be...
That's tomorrows project sorted then
In the inner... the other trick is to warm the unit once fueled (use a tealight candle if its chilly) use plenty of fuel and make sure you have about four fueling/air holes on top.
Did you put anything inside as a wicking material... I find some cotton wool really helps.
I keep meaning to make one of these... anyone attempted it?
Thanks for all your feedback guys

The life jacket is a good point Bob, I'm def more interested in the less hairy side of canoeing, I'd love the opportunity to give it a go someday.
Unfortunately the littering seems to be...
Sounds fantastic... been wanting to try open canoeing for a while now, seems to fit so nicely with British bushcraft, just my lack of swimming ability thtas been holding me back from doing something...
I can second that Dave ;)
Yeah I've got a couple of dogs that need walking daily too so thats the extent of the outdoors for me this winter so far... pretty much exhausted all the local walks though so am looking forward to...
Welcome from rainy Witham
I this still available?
Hello all
Haven't been to the site in a couple of months, for various reasons, and haven't done much bushcraft over the winter months.
So seeing as its thawing out a bit now what has everyone...
Afraid not, although you could argue some existential meaning, it's called 'me gusta' and is a commonly used image in memes... perticularly rage comics. It's used to signify a somewhat perverse...
Thanks Monk and welcome too I suppose. Must be some great wilderness out in Oreogon.
Using it as a windbreak is a great idea... i'll look into that
Went back and picked one up... That's an interesting set up al, is the steamer just there for stabilisation?
I've got one of the Ikea ones too Mark but it's in storage somewhere.
Well I'm stumped then... some sort of wedge?
