Ahh, that's not a waistcoat, that's a gilet. That's altogether different. In fact, if you call it a 'Jerkin' then it doesn't have any unfortunate connotations whatsoever. :)

I don't know of a pattern for a leather waistcoat but why not pop into a charity shop, find a fabric one that fits you then take it home and cut into its constituent parts. Then you could use those...
