Whilst having a good sort out of my camping and field gear I dug this out of the bottom of my weekend bag... Made me wonder - how many others keep or kept a bushcraft journal??

Sorry for the late response - just when you think you are getting on top things, life and work like to get in the way....
Thanks Tigger. Think I've got to start on it again now... And promise...
Have a look in the Tockholes area. Also Near the Rivington area.

Hi Jon. As always beautiful work. Welcome back. I've been absent for a while as well. Not just from the forums but all things woodlands and woodcraft orientated. I must say this post has inspired me...
They are pretty easy. Hardest part is finding a nice fallen birch with a good strip of birch. Any problems just post for help.

I used to use an xl cheap bivy bag (Gelert I think) as a pod. Cut a hole in the bottom and used a static ridge line over the hammock to keep it off me. Also quite often use a poncho liner strung...

Haven't made these for a while. Picked up a couple of nice little shoots whilst walking the dogs. Very simple, but also very satisfying hearing them...
Just having a tidy up and resupply of my fire kit. I carry a few methods of lighting, including tradional flint and steel; ferrocium rod; matches and normally a bow drill set too.

I like reviving useful old threads. So this thread started back in 2010. When I first made these. So nearly 7 years on and only oiling them once a year they are still going...

Also got a bit of debris shelter practice in over the weekend. Teaching the little ones about the structures that can be used for one and two man set ups....
So did some grass rope making with the kids. Made about 10' of twin reverse wrap about inch thick. Kids made a small swing out of it....
Hi old buddy. I drop on here from time to time. Don't post much anymore, last time I did it met with mixed reactions. Kind a put me off posting again.
Biggest problem I have at the moment is...

How did I miss this. They are awesome. I'm thinking larger version for fire tongs and food tongs - I manage with the simple hazel ones but these take it one step further. Also thinking skinning dog...
Taught my daughter the method of using the bow drill. She didn't manage an ember but did get plenty of 'powder' and some smoke. Not bad for 9 year olds first go.

Not been here for a good few years. Only 5 mins away. But I'd got stuck in the rut of doing the same old bimbles with the hounds. I'd forgotten what a great view it is. I'd also forgotten the cheeky...
Thanks Tigger. Sorry missed your post come in. Seeing as I've missed a fair bit I think I'm going to struggle to find something original to post about.

Thanks Justin. No offense taken. I'm beginning to feel like an old timer - too many kids running about my house these days.
