Looks like a great trip mate. Some lovely pictures there.
Thanks bikebum. The top one was my first attempt at a spoon, and was a present for my wife. My daughter was jealous so I made the other one for her. They're both just over 6 inches long.
Haven't done anything serious with them yet but from the bit of playing around that I've done I really like them. The handles could do with a bit of work. They fit in the had nicely but I think they...
After making these couple of spoons

with my Mora Clipper and a spoon knife...
Hi Caerleon, welcome from Blaenau. :welcome:
This is the recipe I used. http://www.eatweeds.co.uk/blackberry-jelly-recipe
Really tasty on hot toast. MMMM!
Pouring with rain yesterday so it seemed like a good time to get stuck in in the kitchen. Made 12 jars of Bramble Jelly with a load of blackberries foraged whilst camping last weekend. Not bad for an...
Might be worth dropping in to Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue base if you're leaving the car along the A5 there and let them know. Saves any callouts for missing persons etc. And who better as an...
I find that if the midges are bad any repellant commercial or natural is only of limited effectivness. To be sure you can't beat a midge net. For times that a net isn't possible or practical I like...
Works just the same with 999 too. Except that 999 only works in this country.
Nice read. Thanks for that.
That's the Mora that I've got. I got them on the same offer.
One of the Mora's that Woodlore was selling a year or so ago, with the woodlore badge on the blade. Not sure exactly which model it is but from what I can see the Companion Heavy Duty MG seems like...
If weren't backpacking and didn't need to carry it I'd buy the next size up from the one you've linked to. More economical per gram of gas.
I've generally found that the smaller size will easily last me for a 3 day, 2 night backpacking trip, with a bit left that I use up on base camp camping trips when carrying several half empty ones...
Trangia bottles are some sort of plastic not alloy.
No problem mate. I've found that Mine Explorer has a better mine database but Adit Now is the better forum IMHO.
Let me know when you fancy a trip and we can sort something out. I could take up to...
Your dead right BJ abandoned mines can be very dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. The mines in that area are mostly metal mines which are renowned for false floors. Better sites for info...
I've joined up, but again I may be a bit ad hoc due to family and work.
I don't know what instructions DD are supplying now because I've had my hammock for a couple of years. Mine came with a length of webbing threaded through each end. The instructions were to take both...
I haven't tried their sleep mats (although I'm looking at getting a Numo). Generally their kit is really good though. And they have a very good reputation for customer service.
Don't get me wrong. It was indeed a very good suggestion and I have often done just as you suggest. But since you had already suggested this I was just offering another alternative. :Sorry:
You've made me hungry now. :( If I'm ever camping anywhere with you, you can definitely do the cooking for both of us. T^
I've found that a nice big crusty roll bulks meals out well, weighs very little and survives in a rucksac pretty well.
One of our family favorites is Fajitas. Really easy to cook while out and about as it is basically stir fried in one pan but feels like 'real food' rather than a camping one pot meal.
Personally I...
