Damsons make very good flavoured vodka
Possibly an idea that facing it with something more flexible. Although it actually broke from the back. I used bostick waterproof carpentry glue (I have gallons of it) and it was only really intended...
Tillering is what killed it I'm afraid! Too far and too fast. To be honest I have too many thin strips of ash for them to go for firewood (due to miscommunication with me and the man with the...
Cheers for the advice :) it was actually made from laminate. I have lots of strips of ash all between 1mm and 4mm thick. Think there where a few things I did wrong but hey ho its all a learning curve...
Interested to see it! Nice working with wood again after so much metal, but i'll never make a boweyer it would seem!
I do prefer the lived in look Al ;)
Excuse my extremely messy work bench too!
Had a quick crack at carving a simple one today....
Cheers woody :) that looks a nice bit of kit and surprisingly cheap too! As for draw weight I have no idea. I'm a big lad and about 6'2 so I would assume at the higher end of draw but as I said know...
Any of you who know me will know I'm a very keen shot, I've shot most everything, shotguns from 9mm garden guns to punt guns, and rifles from .17hmr to a 20mm Lahti and most everything in between and...
Good work :) knot work is something I'm really working on!
Nice to see them about isn't it? I have to admit I assumed someone would be flying him but no rings or anything. There's a chap flies a raven nearby and mentioned he had other birds

Medford preatorian GT. Its a real heavy duty go anywhere do anything knife. My only issue is its clearly designed as a fighting knife and I'm not too keen on that but it won't fail you
As a little teaser here's the current lineup! In price order I think a good selection of price ranges. All the way from the £1000 Shirigorov down to the £1.99 "jar o knives" special...
Somewhat off topic but managed to take a snap of this little guy (girl technically I know) while having a few drags on my ecig outside of work today...
I thought that actually. I'll be buying a new pipe tomorrow but it served brilliantly as a temporary fix. And its an excuse to buy a lathe :D
Got any amount of that cherry seasoning though so plenty...
Sad moment this morning. After a fairly aggressive smoking session trying to fathom something out, my trusty briar pipe cracked. Had it been yesterday, not a problem, today however my local (and...
A tad excessive to see how sharp a knife is too! Not a cheap piece of kit I would wager. I'll drop him a text and see if there's any chance of some more time with it though because I do like the idea
Oh definitely. Started on about molecule and crystal size and shapes, have to admit some went over my head but it did make vague sense.
That was my thinking to be honest. The metallurgy lecturer almost made my brain catch fire when I asked him about the best steel for knife blades lol. Very knowledgeable chap. Had some interesting...
That's a good point actually! Might even suggest it next time I pop in. I was amazed to be honest that even mid range knives like the spydie where sharper than brand new stanley blades. Shouldn't...
As for magnification and techy stuff, ill have to get back to you on that, was not my area of expertise and I have only a working knowledge of SE microscopy. Just thought i would share something I...
As some of you may know, I've recently been bothering the fine people at my local university (of which I'm proud alumni!) to use their digital kilns to harden a greater range of knife steels. I've...
