I have only visited England once..had 12 hours to wait for a connecting flight to Khartoum. So I took the train in to London, went sight seeing, had a few pints and went back to the airport.
The rest of your country I have only seen on TV...and the country side looks like a well manicured garden to me, even the forest. Here once you are off the asphalt, you are in the wild :-)
It just takes some time for us that live here to realize it. And it often takes a foreigner to drive it home to us.
Your right about England. There are no really wild places here. Pretty much every inch is managed to some degree.
