I originally planned to do a bit of carving today and leave it at that.
However, I learnt earlier today that a member of the BCUK forum passed away...
This evening I toasted from my campfire to Drew Dunn, a bushcraft brother I never met, but who touched so many lives. I hope you fare well in the campsite in the sky mate!
I met Drew last year at the BCUK Bushmoot. What a character!!?? Larger than life and a human dynamo - the man was turbo-charged. He it was who made me feel really at home there.
So very sad to hear of his loss yesterday. :( He was a gem.
Only the good die young?
Went for a forest walk with the todler this afternoon. Fired up the old hexaburner, and made him som hot chocolate before we headed home :-)
Here is a vid :-)

for the last 2 days I have been teaching firelighting and shelter building as part of a 2 day event for year 3/4 pupils at a school :) ... my first placement as an assistant instructor :happy-clapping:
Tomorrow I head back to the same school with the same company delivering these events for a day with year 1/2 pupils.....very satisyfying when yesterday the kids & teachers thanked me for the excitement, and knowledge..they painted their favourite memories on flat pebbles yesterday afternoon...fire and shelters were a popular subject :)
I planned to go out and hang my hammock on an island just off the shore here, about a mile out from here (but still only 1/3 of a mile from land). So I gave my S.I.B and motyor a once over after winter storage, checked the spark plug, started the motor in a barrel of water to make sure it was starting and running fine. And when I had pumped up the boat, and given it a rinse with the garden hose, there was quite a strong gust of wind...I looked up and well, I think i'll postpone :-)
