These knives are very low end knives. Think of the rough finish on the spine as Moras way of spending more of the budget on the edge. Which normally are excellent.
The sides of the blade will look a LOT worse when you start to use it. Also it is a carbon blade, so if it gets wet it will rust. If you get it in salt water you can litterally see the rust appear.
So always dry it off after use, and give the blade some oil before putting it away. I use normal cooking oil, but if you are going to store it, use something else as cooking oil goes ransid.
All of that said, they are excellent knives. Low en here does not mean low quallity. It just Mora is not spending the money on the finish, but where it counts. They do have better finish on some models but they cost more. But I dare say the quallity of your knife is excactly the same.
Anyway, get yours replaced. No reason to keep a product you are not happy with. A lemmon is a lemmon.
