Hi Iain, thanks for your message, I've had a couple of nights out, but not a great deal these last few months, been out for the day/evening quite a bit. Had the little ones out shelter building and I've been doing a lot more green wood work - kuksa, spoons etc.. How about yourself?

Iain, I've answered your question on the main forum, which is the best place for it so that everyone can easily see our conversation. The yellow box of tricks is a Garmin Etrex H which is a great little gps device. It's a no frills attached gps which tells you where you are, where you've been and where you're going next. It doesn't have any built in maps or any other gizmos so it's very easy to use. Having said all that, I would never go onto the moors without a compass as it is the most reliable piece of navigational equipment you can get.

hi klause thanks for the tip about the hobo stove. just trying to get the bits together for hobo stove and then make a pop can stove. have you got any good ideas where i could practise bushcraft skills locally? i am based in westderby in liverpool. phil
