Has anyone here ever made, or ridden in a Birch bark canoe? I rode in one once and It was amazing. I would love to make one, but there are hardly any trees up here in this frozen wasteland.

Nope, but they are fascinating though, more so since I watched the Ray Mears episode about traditional building techniques (filmed in Canada of course, right across the river from Ottawa where I am).

It is, especially this side of Algonquin park/Quebec border, is gorgeous in the summer. Right now though, it looks like your neck of the country, except we have trees. :D

Very expensive indeed...... but I do go to Ontario at least once a year; Last summer I spent a whole month there......... It was amazing:campfire:
