Nice. What wood did you use for it? Can't quite tell from the pictures.

How close am I with my guess of birch?

I was trying with different designs and left a nice weight on the tail end, feels really nice in the hand.
To be honest I picked the off cut up at a local composting place and would be a dodgy bark ID as no leaf, bud or shape to go off. I don't think it was a birch.
The most interesting wood I've carved recently was out of mahonia and bright yellow, has faded a little but still pretty impressive.
