First time I've seen this style of hard-warmer, that just doesn't seem right! Fire in your pocket? Madness!

Anyone out there got one? Care to enlighten us further on it's workings?

They're brilliant and get quite hot (you have to keep it in its pouch). Filled-up, will keep hot for a good twelve hours (even longer!!!). Works by 'catalytic convection', so no actual flame. You'll find one in my 'Fletch's Bug Out Bag' thread.

Don't you worry mate. Indeed, one day you'll be content with all your possessions. Might not be now, but soon.

I bought one for my wife last year. It's a bit of a pain to fill using the supplied plastic bottle but it works a charm. I may be slightly overfilling it but it stays hot for hours, well over the advertised 12 hours. You need to keep it in the supplied felt pouch as it can get very hot. Get one for each pocket I say!

...I binned the little plastic spout thing after the first fill. Four 'squirts' from a zippo fuel bottle will fill to the right amount IMHO.

The Highlander looks OK, but - MARTIN - the Zippo is SHINY!

I've got one of those behind me in the draw, never gets used and is temperamental, although I think that is probably down to possibly very cheap/old sticks.

Judging by your avatar, methinks you should stay away from campfires after doing so, Mike. ;)

Nope Tony, haven't yet, but also haven't been to my girlfriend's place (where I gave the address to send as my "shop" is there) since Friday morning. She didn't mention an envelope showing up though. When did you send? Be handy to have though since my new knife is waiting for a sheath and I want to make the Woodlore style.

We have sold quite a few Zippo handwarmers at the store. People are quite fond of them.

They've been around for years here, I never really considered buying one, but never really got to know them or how useful they are, so I may just shell out the cash for one at some point.

You can use disposable warmers like "Hot Hands" etc if they are for survival kit, rather than something you are going to use regularly.

Don't those have a shelf life? I know having one of these Zoppo heaters with you would require having lighter fluid packed as well, but that's not always a bad thing. ;)

I have the original version of this called the Jon-E Handwarmer in the G.I. and regular sized versions. They work very well, whenever I have it with me I hardly get cold.

I've got Peacocks, they are excellent. My dad and I used them when I was still a lad. They really are amazing things. Good for inside pockets too, not just hands. Keep the body really warm.

Dug out my Hot Hands Mike - no expiry date on the pack.
