Gary Moore, rock guitar icon, virtuoso musician and former member of Thin Lizzy, has died. He was 58. A message on his official website reads: "It is with deep sorrow and regret that we have to announce that Gary Moore passed away while on holiday in Spain last night.

Shame if this is correct. Liked his guitar style, I was listening to him in the gym the other day.

Strangely enough I was playing this very tune on my guitar on our top landing (keeps our little girl company whilst in the bath), about 6 hours before he died. He was a lifelong musical hero of mine, and waiting for an alibi would be in my top five. His later blues stuff was out of this world and he squeezed so much emotion out of that vintage les paul. Check out his live duet with BB King on youtube - two absolute masters bouncing off each others respect.
