The time of the year has come to start thinking about this years RV. I had my first one last year and thoroughly enjoyed it, even though it was freezing.

£15 per night is too dear for me. Kept me away last year and will keep me at home again this year. With my partner and maybe three teenagers it's actually closer to £50 per night plus food, drink and a few workshops. Going to be near £200 for the weekend!!!

£15 per night does sound steep for what you get....

Plus the workshops, spirits and scran it can quickly add up. Maybe find a stealth camp spot close by!!

All the information is on the Footsteps of Discovery website fish. Not sure any of the locals would appreciate wild campers without warning though.

Looking forward to this weekend. Gonna start packing tonight so its not a mad rush like usual.

Just been up to Booker's Cash & Carry and picked up a box of pork ribs for the weekend. All I need to do now is defrost them, cook them long and very, very slow and make up a sauce to finish them off at camp.

I did promise Scott some last year but there should be plenty to go around seeing as the box weighs 22 and a half pounds !!!!.

Scott
16-04-2014, 01:56 PM
Ok now my mouth is watering thinking of those ribs lol. Looking forward to this weekend should be a good one and the weather isn't looking bad either.

As mentioned earlier I will have some of these bad boys for the RV. Once marinated and very slowly cooked for about 4 - 5 hours they will be ready to finish off over a fire with some sauce that I am making.

12029

These are a good size and have plenty of meat on them. If anybody is interested I can offer them to you for £3.00 a go which will include sauce and napkins. There are 7 portions left and I will be making no money at all on them, I just want to cover my costs.

All you have to do is finish them off yourself as I don't have a griddle big enough.

If interested please stick your name down for some.

Cheers Neil

Teenagers!!! Woke up nice and early Saturday morning, packed all ready to go and she decided that she doesn't want to any more. If I'd known earlier I could have packed her off to her Dad's for the weekend and come on my own - which is what I will do next year.

Ribs, ribs and more ribs. Thanks to Chubbs for the meat sweats. Thanks to Ashley for possibly the best catch of a diablo ever. Thanks to the nearby wedding or dance or rave or something that provided Saturday evenings music and thanks to the weather for holding off till we were leaving.
My first RV and had a good time with old friends and new. Communal meal was very tasty with Pork, lamb, goose, rabbit, venison and salmon all cooked under ground (hangi). Also appreciated the good value prices on booze, tea and coffee and burgers.
Looking forward to the next one.

Like you say guys, top weekend, and was nice to stay for more than one night this time. Some good laughs, with friendly company, in a nice location, random Scottish person included.

Looking forward to next year, as long as I'm fortunate enough to be able to get down for it. T^

Another great chance to meet up with all the forum members again.

I was a bit quiet on this one, not my usual self. My whole family had the dreaded lurgy and I think it was passed over to me but the ribs did help. I think we all ate so many of them, it will be a while before I personally touch another one !!.

The evening entertainment as already mentioned was excellent, I think we all had tears of laughter in our eyes. I'm still trying to work out if the lawnmower was a witch or not.

Thanks guys, it was great to see you all again.

I always enjoy the RV, and getting out with the family. The boy was very happy with his two nights in the hammock and the young lady was pleased on getting a room of her own in the tent, how easily the kids are pleased! Shame the weather closed in like it did and had to quit the outing early.

Nice seeing folks again, sorry for dashing away without suitable goodbyes. Wife and kids got soaked right through and subsequently very cold trying to get packed up, it was a bit of a Great Escape job before tempers went too far.

Cracking weekend & I'm already missing the woods. Jan, you were missed as were you Sainty. Next year just come by yourselves, cheaper and way more fun :)

Fish, I've got some cracking pics of your boys doing the breadmaking, they're really photogenic (even with filthy faces!)

Are the owners of either of these 2 ruffians on the forum or does anyone have contact details for their parents? I need their permission to use this photo on the blog.

Cheers all :)

It was my first time at the Cornwall RV and I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, it was good to meet some you guys from the forum and it was very kind of you to allow me a gnaw at your ribs, cheers.

Fish, it was a true pleasure to meet you, a proper olde countryman, my wife loved the rowan spoon I bought from you (it had a heart carved in the handle) and the kuksa should give me many years of
service. I'm in two minds about the bushcraft paste in the little tin though, my teeth have come up lovely and white but as far as taste goes, well it's not very minty!!!!
