Who has an intention of going to this years?

We "The Breakfast Club" (South East Group) have been talking about going together en masse for this year, but thought I'de put an early post up to start some early chatter on the event.

Are you going? Who went last year? What did you think?

I think Cody and Lofty are going.

On a more serious note, it's 45 minutes from me so if you need it you've a handy staging post.

The good lady has been looking at their website, and asked about going up for a family weekend, but really not sure.

I've never been as it looks far too commercial for my liking. Saying that I may take my boys for the day, I will check Groupon closer to the time to see if I can get a cheap ticket.

I got mine off group on/wowcher last year, got a family ticket (4 people) for £1 less than an adult (1 person) ticket. it was a good show I thought

Sounds like a plan! Was it on there late/last-minute, or a sensible time before?

Maybe but a £190 for a weekends camping needs a bit of justifying as a jolly

Yeah I guess if it's more than just you it's costly!
The way I'm looking at it is this:

My mrs went to the Jessy J concert at the O2 near us. It cost £70 for 4 hours entertainment.

I'll be paying £95 for 3 whole days!

If I take the family out for a meal, it costs me about £120

Comparing the cost of the weekend to something else you would normally do without hesitation settles my guilt.

If there's a party of ten or more, there's a group discount too!

When I see the CAMP BAZZA lot having so much fun, I get the urge. I must admit.

We should do a NB meet there if poss.

I suppose its all relative.... Wouldn't dream of spending £120 on a meal or £70 on a concert, £34 for a footy ticket...or the thick end of £100 for 3 nights camping.....mind you I am a Yorkshireman spending money doesn't come easy to us

Short arms and deep pockets aye Sap, but I agree with you, and most things on sale at that kind of place are mostly twice the price, to pay for the pitch. I mean 100 squid thats nearly 4 bottles of decent scotch innit  Ken

Who went? How did you find it?

I found it to be a bit commercial but for a tenner (Groupon ticket) it was ok for a wet day out!

Oh, and bumped into this guy...

As you know mate I went on Monday, like you say its very comercialised. I did have a good chat with Ben Orford and gave him some spalted walnut for the handle of my new knife. I never saw codey (you git!) but I did listen to a french guy giving a speach on stage who thought it was exceptable to swear (alot) with kids in the audiance! Not very professional even if there are only adults present.

Not good, saying that in my line of work its not only acceptable but in some cases seemingly mandatory to swear quite a lot during lessons/presentations!!! I watched a little of Lofty which was really his generic "army days" talk but great to listen to nonetheless, also met a few guys whos YouTube channels i've subscribed to which was cool to meet them. I'm thinking the Wilderness Gathering would be more my cup of tea but its over the Wifes birthday weekend so not sure i'll be making it unless i can get her hooked in time!

Easy way to remedy that......and it wouldn't tax my van...2 vehicles in our house hence needing VFM

I was there for the weekend, bought my ticket early so got a 25% reduction.
I have to say I enjoy the show. I get what people say regarding commercialism, that is almost inevitable. however, there are plenty of top notch speakers to listen to. Some hard to get hold of pieces of kit, Andrew Kirkam springs to mind. Also the amount of free demo`s are impossible to attend.
There are some issues, which I will put to the organisers later this week, re some of the amenities. Overall I am happy with the show and would encourage anyone to give it a go.

Thats one of the reasons I stick hold of my Explorer only £225, + still only 70k on the clock and I had it converted to LPG when I first got it
