I have no idea but they look very cool, I wouldn't mind a couple of pieces to use as knife scales, ( 150 x 45 x 15 mm ) I don't mind making a "donation", cheers Ian...

I think it could be Laburnum. I've seen some start really yellow/lime like that and dry out a dark brown with very pale sap wood.

What does it smell like?

Is barberry not supposed to have yellow wood, but I've never seen it grow to that sort of thickness

Its Laburnum and it is very poisonous. You need to be very careful when working with it.

Bark doesn't look like laburnum to me. Not smooth enough. No idea what it is though. Have worked a lot with Laburnum and it is not as dangerous as some people think :)

Don't think its laburnum, the heart wood isn't dark enough, looks more like a diseased piece of willow.

The black line indicates the fungus and the yellow is were the fungi has taken the lignin out of the wood bleaching it in the process.

I'd second that. Definitely a diseased tree.

Whatever it is , I hope you made something nice with it...
Knife scales, ferro rod handle etc.

That would have made a nice piece on the lathe...

Staghorn sumac.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhus_typhina

Native species to the USA but widely planted in the temperate regions for ornamental purposes.

Beautiful colour

Only found this by accident , reading through a spoon carving post over on BCUSA and somebody had carved one out of this stuff...
