I'm growing this little fellow on my office windowsill, a plant that I want to get to know better and hopefully use (not eat), I will rename this thread with it's name when someone ID's it correctly :)

Any ideas?

Looks like sage, can we have a good pic of one of the leaves?

Ok, hints: It's not rubber or sage, I heard this is a plant the Romans may have introduceds into Britain (not sure of the accuracy of that though).

I appreciate it might be hard to tell this young plant apart from others at this early stage. I can't take another shot right now as I'm not at the office.

Any more guesses?

It does look sagey..
My best guess, (n I don't think its right) is evening primrose..

Is it a member of the citrus family.

I would have said olive if you said it was a tree and not a plant

It's none of the above! :happy-clapping: ... it is a misleading photos perhaps, so young and all.

Ok, to go along with my other hints: you might use this plant along with water!

It's Soapwort (Saponaria)! :p Can't believe the hints didn't give it away

Apparently it can spread quite easily once you have it established, which is handy as I'm actually contemplating planting a load in the garden and using it for soap!

I've found a double-flowered variety of Soapwort near to my house recently, Bouncing Bett as it's known: http://wildflowerfinder.org.uk/Flowers/S/Soapwort/Soapwort.htm

The seeds were a pain in the backside to germinate, I'm not sure if I just had a bad batch or not but I've got a handful of small plants on the go now. :o
