Apart from price has anyone had the chance to try both of these hammocks? If so, what conclusions did you come to?

Yes I'd be interested in this too... I want to have a go in a hammock this year, but as I've never used on before I want a reasonable priced one to start. My mate recommendedthe DD Travel, and I've read loads of good things. At the price it is worth a go...I don't really want to put all the extra in a hennesy if its only marginally better, or not at all.
Waiting for your views with interest.
Cheers
Gareth

A nice alternative to the Hennessys ....

Unfortunately they're only available direct from the manufacturer in the US so there's import duty to consider as well.

I had one of the original Hennessy Expeditions but I think it was just a bit too short for me, the newer ones with the zip entry are apparently a lot more user friendly.

Lots of good info on http://www.hamockforums.net

Doh, cheers mate

The Blackbird is the comfiest hammock I've ever tried by far, the footbox let's you get really flat on the diagonal plus the shelf comes in really handy for chucking bits of gear in at night.
