hello,
Anyone tried this one? 'Stove In A Can' http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004F1N7NM/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_hgy5rb0GWVCMP
A mate of mine has a few for use, I was wondering if anyone has used such? Looks very much alike to
the 'Tommy Cooker' I've used. No photo's as yet only the link.
Regards
David

I have not used that one but have used something similar but it was a lot smaller which used a gel fuel, and we carried spare fuel in what looked like a large tube of tooth paste.

I've used similar, but a very much smaller version. The one advertised is half gallon (4 pint) size but the one I used was about .5 pint size and the fuel was not in separate sections. Having made a brew with it and snuffed it out, I didn't use it again for a month and when I took the tight fitting lid off the solid fuel had dried out and shrunk to a little blob in the bottom of the tin...
I see in the advert they suggest you can re-use unburned fuel...which is probably true if it's used frequently or they've cured the fuel drying out problem that I experienced
Having gone on about that, I suppose if you use it frequently as a main cooker, not a backup as I did, or you're prepared to use a new fuel disc each time it might make a handy if non light weight cooker.

hello,
Aye the Tommy Cooker (alcohol jelly) I've used such too. Mates got a couple & offered me one. I prefer my own methods of cooker
but never say no to a freebie

If its free get it then try it out, I wonder if it uses solid fuel like hexe and can it be broken down and used in other cookers?

hello,
ian c Yes just like the Tommy Cooker, which I have used with both Alcohol Jelly for which it was intended & tried hexi crumbled into such too *the hexi used outdoors, longtime ago. The Alcohol Jelly was used to avoid fumes which Hexi Blocks emitted.

Or the Bengazi stove they don't half kick out some heat, its basically a tin can or mess tin filled with soil or sand and petrol or some other combustible liquid added.
