I have been using the classic penny stove for a while but after seeing a variation i thought i'd have a go.

have to say it burns a treat, much hotter. It's basically based on the trangia design but costs no more than 10 minutes of time.

I also polished up the bottom for a solar lighter to set a peice of charcloth alight using some car polish (that took slightly longer than 10 mins)

Nice stove dude, I put cotton the wool in the side walls of mine, then if they get knocked over I don't get a river of burning meths all over the place.

I used to with the old style ones but i didn't see it would help with this type as it has an open well full of fuel..just have to be extra careful i think

Nice job wildish.

If anyone is interested in making one, there are instructions on the main website: http://www.naturalbushcraft.co.uk/kit/reviews/how-to-make-a-pop-can-meths-stove.html

I played around with making one the other night as a practice before I get the Scouts to make one each. I won't be letting them anywhere near a five litre container of meths though, that was just bleedin' stupid.

doesnt bare thinking about!

you'd like to think the people who have that sort of responsibility would have enough brains to even cover the basics.

yes bud, just pour meths in the center well,it has small cut-outs at the bottom of the inner wall for the fuel to filter through.
i filled it about half way and it went for about 12 mins

Nice. Like the fact you've made it a double use tool. Good thinking:happy-clapping:
