I forged my first blade today - with guidance and help from a friend of mine.
The blade is around 12,5 cm long with tang.
The design is inspired by a small 7-8'th century British brokeback seax.
The Danish Industrial Museum; www.industrimuseet.dk (10 minutes walk from me) has a complete working forge, which is open for anyone who is interested in working in front of the visitors and telling them about the craft. My friend is a volunteer at the museum - so is my fiancee.

That is just coolness :-)
Forging is one of those things that are quite easy to learn - yet imminently hard to master.

Not wrong there! I've been forging full time for nearly a decade and I'm still learnign new things :)
Good work on your first forged blade. I take it this won't be the last? ;)
bloomin ek! thats awsome for a first or 100th go at it!
I probably won't get to do the handle and sheath before after Christmas. From now on, untill the 23'th, I will be working seven days a week at the store.

Nice one Jeep, I always prefer the forged look as opposed to shineyness (if thats even a word!) which is why there are three of Dave Budds blades in the household already :)
Will be following this one as it evolves into a thing of beauty.

I'd never heard of a broke back seax, but quickly found this: http://www.myarmoury.com/feature_seax.html
Very interesting looking design, and I like the others, will be very interested in how you finish this. Well done!
