After a busy morning gardening at the vicarage we had a spot of lunch then headed out into the woods for a nice walk and kick a few leaves about:

on our walk we saw some incredible looking fungi:

we ambled along for a bit further and found an old shelter someone had made, when new it would have been a very good shelter,so we stopped here for a brew up with the Kelly kettle.

whilst the kids made the most of an old rope swing:

After a cup of tea we made our way back home pausing to take a pic of a local farm that we would love to own if we won the lotto!:

Wow - excellent photos :D.
Autumn seems to be the best season for hiking; the temperature is just right, and the scenery is truly incredible. :)

A qualified plus two, when the Weather Gods are not tipping a reservoir's worth of rain on your head for a laugh, hiking in Autumn is often quite spectacular.

I'm loving the kettle stand, very civilised. Is the water bladder hanging near by, so you can top the kettle up for brew No 2?

I find nothing quite beats a brew, like brew No 2.

Great pictures, looks like you had a lovely little wander, thanks for sharing T^

:) Yep. In 2011, we got 14 inches of rain in ONE week in September. And then on the 29th of October, a blasted blizzard came through, dumping nearly 23 cm of snow throughout my state. It was so bad that the trees couldn't withstand the weight of the snow combined with the cold temperatures. Every few seconds you could hear trees exploding. I had no power from the 29th to the following Thursday at night. Some people didn't get electricity back for weeks. We were caught completely unprepared.
It got absolutely FRIGID at night - sleeping in -7 C temps was unforgettable, especially since my house has almost no insulation in the walls.
Weather can certainly make all the difference.

Well, we have a wood burning fireplace (beats the gas or electric ones anyday of the week, in my opinion), but because of where it was constructed, it couldn't heat much of the house besides one or two rooms. My mother put kerosene lanterns everywhere, but I couldn't breathe because of how congested the kerosene fumes made me feel. Not that we had a CO problem (thank the Stars), but now I just can't stand the smell of kerosene.
But gathering wood everyday was fun :). Lots of trees where I live - mostly deciduous, though there are a few spots of conifers here and there.
Haha!! :D
I considered that, though I'm terrible at Spanish. I'm much more fluent with Italian, and I'm working on Welsh.

Wood heaters are definitely my preferred method of heating a home. Alas i currently live in an appartment for uni, and all we have for heating is reverse cycle air con. We generally dont bother unless it dips at least 4 below freezing :P

I absolutely agree. Gas heaters scare the $#!* out of me, because the fuel is so darned flammable. All you need it for some idiot to be careless with fire, and BOOM! Wood may not burn as "clean" as some other fuels, but I don't think that anything can top the scent of burning wood on a crisp day. LOVE that aroma :D.
Yeah, I wouldn't use it much either, if I was in your place. ;)
