Best buy for under £50

Hi folks

Well I've been working really hard in my day job and picking up some work on the side too, as a consequence I now have the princely sum of £50 burning a hole in my pocket.

So here's the question, I've been into bushcraft/wild camping etc for half my life and I think that I've got all the shiny unnecessary crap that anyone could want, but the money keeps whispering in my ear. I lay in bed at night and all I can hear are the voices saying "spend me, spend me"!

So I put it open to you fine folk, if you had a spare £50, what would you buy?

Ps. Let's not have any sensible suggestions like, pay some bills or fill up on fuel. Or worse still, nobody is allowed to suggest that I take my wife out shopping for shoes!!

Hi Ade, for me it would have to be a doggie bed and quilt, then a sift through guntree and give a dog a new home, the plus side being a great excuse for getting out and about, and going on "mini adventures" with (lol). There also a great ice-breaker, and a good way of starting conversations, Personally I'd go for a retired greyhound, but I'm biased.

Hi Ade, this thread has really got me thinking, I actually want for nothing at the mo. I'm really trying to think of something to add to my kit, but I'm struggling. Mebbe a traditional steel for striking flint, or some leather crafting tools. Some Mead? :D

Thanks to one and all for your suggestions.

Although I am starting to feel more and more like this is really a "want" as opposed to a "need" because to be honest I already have all the gear that I need whilst I'm out.

I have the flint and steel, the honey stove, the dog, the jackets, the sleeping bags, the pots and pans etc etc.

So maybe I should be sensible and just put the money away until something catches my eye.

Although, I am looking for a street legal EDC knife........ :)
