A Desert Viking

I decided to try assembling a stacked-handle knife. I found that the Helle Viking blanks are pretty affordable, so ordered a few. Here are some pics of the first one, which I just finished up the other day. The handle materials are leather, buffalo horn, and agave or yucca stalk (can't remember which, unfortunately), with a penny for the bolster and a nickle for the pommel. I also made a make-shift sheath from a larger piece of agave stalk. It's got kind of a rough look, but I suppose a viking should :) Thanks for looking.

Good looking rustic knifeT^Ill try and post some pictures of a jig I'v made to hold the handle in place upright when gluing it,it will also force the leather to be a little flatter.The way you'v done it the epoxy mite be only on one side of the handle so only one side of the tang is stuck? Nice thow.Atb.........TONY

Thanks everybody. Tony, is jig like the one pictured here http://thompsonsknives.com/knife_instructions.html ? I was going to make one, but then decided to give it a try with the equipment I had at hand. I did use a polyurethane glue, however, which expands at it sets, so I'm thinking it's pretty even. Thanks for the advice, though - I wouldn't have thought of that, so if I ever try with epoxy, I'll keep that in mind.

Awesome, thanks for the pics! I'm going to try to make a jig soon. I've got a few more blanks ready - just trying to decide what materials to use for the handles. Through a shipping error from an eBay purchase, I was lucky to end up with a bunch of tigerwood, bocote, & rosewood blocks (the seller was a real nice guy & just told me to keep it all, it wasn't worth the cost of shipping it all back). I think those will come in handy :)
