A Bushies of Bushcrafters doesn't sound right, we need a collective noun for us not a "What do you call yourself" name eg.

gaggle of geese
murder of crows
parliament of rooks
murmuration of starlings

An endurance of Bushcrafters

Hi folks

In response to this question, I thought that it would be in keeping to post the following. It is a glossary of bushcraft related terms that i defined quite some time ago and posted on another couple of sites. Hope you all like it and please don't take offence it's all meant to be quite lighthearted.

Ade.

1. Bushcraft – The art of trimming ones pubic hair into interesting and amusing shapes and formations.

2. Woodlife – The permanent and irreversible effects of overdosing on large amounts of Viagra.

3. Jetboil – A method of boiling water by those who have not learnt how to start a fire.

4. Tool – Anybody who thinks that an overnight kit should consist of a Tesco’s bag full of cheap cider which should be drunk whilst sat around a campfire talking shite.

5. Multi-tool – A collection of the above. Often known as a “Moot”.

6. Moot – An opportunity for lots of blokes to sit around a campfire, drinking strong cider transported in Tesco’s bags and talking shite.

7. Steel Striker – A heavy metal object used to bludgeon ones wife to death after discovering that she has used the tip of your best Alan Wood knife to tighten the screws on the plug of her hair drier after changing the fuse. (Incidentally, this is a job that she asked you to do over 3 weeks ago, however, you were far to busy watching extremely informative videos on Youtube on various topics such as kit reviews and how to tie a tarp knot such as the Siberian Hitch).

8. Wood-carving – Something to do with your hands in the forest whilst you haven’t got access to the host of “specialist” internet sites that you are too embarrassed to save in you favourites settings incase your wife discovers them.

9. Expert – Apparently anybody who has watched at least 6 episodes of Ray Mears programmes.

10. Hobo Stove – Method by which one can cook a hobo.

11. Vegetarian – Ancient Navajo Indian word, roughly translated as “Crap Hunter”.

12. Foraging – Free food that has not been shop lifted from the nearest Tesco’s.

13. Fungi – The bloke that everybody takes the piss out of.

14. Bear Gryhlls – See above.

15. Parang – The noise your axe makes when it hits a concealed nail in a tree.

16. Knife – Or actually this should be knives as owning just one is never enough. A concept that ones wife just doesn’t understand. Knives are often the subject of much debating – Moots are well known for blokes having a mass-debate (think about it!!) over their newest knife.

17. Bivi-bag – A place where one can have a mass-debate in private.

18. Hammock – The best bushcraft method known for achieving a freezing cold back and arse.

19. Boil in the bag – The concept of using an army surplus arctic sleeping bag in the middle of summer.

20. The Wife!! – The persons to whom all grovelling (or lying) has to be done to when you want to buy new kit. Always remember that it is easier to apologise than to ask permission!!

Excellent Ade.

I must confess I've always found the term Bushcraft uncomfortable because of the pubic topiary image it brings to mind.
