Identical twins, Miki and Julie Collins inherited an eight hundred square mile trapline in the shadow of Mt Denali. Trapping is their life, travel in summer is by light plane, canoe and hiking. In winter dogsled, snow shoes and ski's provide their transport. They grow veg, forage for berries and catch fish in the summer and trap through winter when snow and ice make travelling easier. Every year they kill a moose to provide a years supply of meat for the two of them. Along the way they build their own cabins, sleds and do pretty much everything themselves in order to live there.

If you enjoy reading about our modern adventurers who visit these places briefly, I suggest you take time to read about these two who have lived this life since the early eighties. I was introduced to the book in the mid nineties by a work colleague who was at college with them in Fairbanks and can honestly say that Miki and Julie are made of sterner stuff then me!

Up to you of course. You could buy a copy from the US here: http://www.amazon.com/Trapline-Twins-Julie-Collins/dp/1889963917/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1325332886&sr=8-1

If I'd spotted a book I like the look of though I'd be heading to my local library to borrow a copy first instead of parting with cash for a book I'd only had a review of from someone I didn't know. Completely up to the individual. :)

I was at my local library today so thought I'd ask on behalf of Luresalive if they could get a copy. Turns out this book isn't available through the library. Sorry Luresalive!

Feeling bad I thought I should attempt to find another copy for you and came up with this:
http://www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=1005460304&searchurl=afn_sr%3DCJ%26isbn%3D9780940055537

I hope it's within your price range.
