Do they chime in a breeze ?

Just wondering:confused2:

No, but they do keep you warm and dry when you're working hard on the hill. The other benefit is that it doesn't smell when you've been sweating in it for a couple of days. I got mine from Endicott's a couple of years ago and I really like it. :)

Thanks Martin, despite my flippant post, I was wondering how well they performed.

I bought a coolmax tee on Saturday, it seems ok.

What base layer (other than wool), if any, work well in the cold weather?

Thanks comanighttrain, I like a fleece mid layer.

But maybe I should have a rethink.

Coolmax is great too. I've got a couple of them in brown and they too keep you warm. The only trouble with any of these base layers, in my experience, is that once they get wet the sweat tends to pour out of the bottom making it feel like you've wet yourself. They do dry out really quickly although that depends on how much ventilation you can get to them.
