Quick question - the coloured spacers that some use on knife handles: what are they made of?
Is there any household material that I can use?
Is it just a bit of thin coloured plastic?
You get the idea.
Cheers.

Vulcanized pastic is what the common ones are made of.............

well, vulcanised cellulose fibre actually ;)

I don't use them much myself on account of them being so common these days :rolleye: Also they can sometimes make a nice piece look tacky. but that's just my opinion of course.

They can help to take up a little slack in fit, which is handy. They do nothing for sealing wood from metal, since there is automatically a barrier formed by the epoxy ;)

Mostly if I use a coloured spaced these days its afine line and made from normal thin card or occasionally thin plastic. Trouble there is that thin liners show the poor fit rather than hide it, but they are much more subtle than the thinck fibres liners. I also use leather on occasion too

I've thought about using it, but never got around to it, and also found it a bit tacky too.
