Although there is a list on the website showing just some of the things that are edible and around at this time of year, I just wanted to know how to prepare some of these things as I want to know what I am eating is safe. If possible could you list some things you would suggest to pick and eat but also how to prepare it for consumption.

Thanks, Ryan

Hi Ryan and welcome to NB

Appologies if I am reading this incorrectly but this is how I see your question. Really you should only be collecting items that are safe to eat in their natural form. Anything that requires processing to remove toxins is moving into a more specialised area and you would be advised to read some of the readily available books before even thinking of attempting this. Finding someone with some knowledge and plenty of good guides will tell you whats good but remember that any doubt means you stay away.

Alternatively if I read the question a different way and the foods you are foraging are generally ok then preperation depends on your cooking resources and ingredients to hand. Cooking everything thoroughly is always best and works for me.

Thanks jus_young

First off I think I'll take your advice about reading up on removing toxins and anything in that sort of area. Second, my question was sided more to your alternate answer. What would you suggest collecting and cooking? I have most of the resources ready to prepare the food but I just need a few idea's to get going with.
