On a visit to Wistman's Wood (http://www.legendarydartmoor.co.uk/wistman.htm) (Dartmoor) I picked up a piece of dead Oak and made a spoon.

The spoon is more ornamental than practical; more of a reminder of that special place steeped in myth and legend, I know the wood is ancient - the original wood that would have covered all of Dartmoor at some stage.

Thanks for your comments all.

cool ash :),how long did it take to carveNot sure to be honest - When your sat happy in Wistman's Wood whittling, fog all around you, you easily loose track of time :) ... maybe 30-45mins? maybe more, I'm not sure.

Beautiful work Ash. I gather the Oak wasn't all that bad to carve then? Have an Oak tree in my small patch of woods that dropped some branches thinking of doing a couple spoons from it maybe even a Kuksa
