Hi Guys,

Leg's bit better after recent treatment so it's time for me to 'shake down' some old kit and try out some new shiny stuff. :camping:

I'm off to Forgewood (100 acres) near Tunbridge Wells if anyone's up for it.

Let me know soon and I'll make arrangements with John at Forgewood (http://www.forgewoodcamping.co.uk/index.html).

I know, I'm off there on a course in a couple of weeks. Thought I'd 'shake down' my old and new bits of kit before doing anything embarrassing there and to make sure all kit works as intended for my long-haul trips this year. :)

You fancy popping down this weekend?

Hello Peeps,

Not been on the site for a while. If it's OK, I'll accompany Ben on this trip. Be good chance to make use of a bit of kit and prepare for the Cornwall RV before Ben and I go on our big adventure in June.

Awh.. we're going to the meet at Ivan's this weekend, otherwise we'd be game.

John (Forgewood) is hosting the second meet for the Sussex bushies on 16/17 April that I'm organising at BCUK - tho ofc anyone here is more than welcome as well! :D

Righty-ho chaps. I've just spoken to John and he says it's very quiet down there at the mo' so we should have lots of space to ourselves in the wood etc. I've confirmed for Ben, Mike, Ken and myself so we're all set now.

Can't wait to get the shiny new stuff all dirty!

Steve :)

You have the luxury of being able to take the lot if you want mate. I'm trying to work-out what to tie where on my bike (http://www.flickr.com/photos/57496601@N08/5290013526/)! :)

@Nova, I should've kept my eyes open on BCUK (haven't logged in for a while!), may do next weekend too, I'll see what comes up.

You can never have too many tins of baked beans. Just as long as we don't share a tent. Or the nearest twelve square metres. ;)

Hi Guys,

Nice place and can't recommend the place enough, we had a whole wood to ourselves and John and Pablo made us feel very welcome. Some of the BCUK guys are having a meet there this coming weekend (speak to Nova).

My primary reason for 'rushing' out at short notice was to give some of my new kit a shake-down (read get it dirty) and see how it performed.

Anyways, Ben, Ken and myself brought plenty of food (enough for a month in Ben's case!) and we always had a brew on the go.

Here's a few pics of the kit in situ, and a shot of Ben's breakfast which is nearly finished apart from the kidneys. Ooh, and a pic of flowers and a 'widowmaker' (there was a few around, which we pointed out to Pablo, who's going to take a look at 'em, nice chap.).

DD Travel on its first outing (with Tatonka tarp):

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5257/5590088942_f2f13607bf.jpg

Hilleberg Akto got top marks. No condensation at all in the inner ten and plenty of room:

Breakfast No1 nearly done. Boy, we ate a lot of beans!:

Kit bits:

Ken's tent and tarp set-up (Ben said he'll post a pic of his Hammock set-up himself):

The trees were just budding, but the flowers were out:

This is a picture of my setup over the weekend. It's my Gelert Solo, with a DD 3x3m tarp over the top to give me a sheltered area, so I have an area to chill out, get dressed etc. if it's raining. Anyone who owns a Solo will know you can't sit up in them and getting in and out is a mission!

I for one, had a brilliant weekend with Ben and Steve. As well as an opportunity to whittle my new walking stick, I learnt a lot of new skills.
