Good find Martin! Cheaper than chips, weight-wise. :)

If you're getting one, let us know how good it is.

Just bought one (they only had the green wood one) and it seems pretty decent for the price. Two open lock positions plus closed lock. The rubber handle is comfortable and large enough for the biggest hands. There is no give in lock open position but the blade is a bit wobbly in the 3 quarter lock position. The blade is a bit on the thin side but for the price I'm not going to complain about that. Did ask about spare blades but no one Knew for sure if these where available. Going the Lake District tomorrow so will take it along and try it out and let you know how it performs.

Likewise bought one today and it has performed admirably - made short work of both dry and green wood

Sorted, :happy-clapping: bought a green wood one today. I'll see how it compares to the bright yellow Lidl folding saw that I've been using.

Bought a couple of these badboys the other day and just went out had a play. They're not gonna last a lifetime a lifetime but for £2.50 you cant go wrong. Would definitely recommend getting the green handled one (green wood one) it performed better on green and dry wood, the other one was a bit weak compared. Overall really pleased with it

So I tried out the Aldi green wood saw and my Lidl saw on a Birch burr. Both saws reduced me to a sweaty heap.
It took about 25mins or so before the burr admitted defeat and came off. The tree had been down for some time and the burr was quite seasoned.
The Aldi saw would flex when it became jammed, the Lidl saw is thicker so didn’t suffer from this. I used the Lidl saw for about 75% of the work as it cut better and felt a lot stronger in use. I think it cost £3.00
After the battle of the burrtree. I tried them on a small hazel rod. The Aldi saw zipped through no probs, I was actually quite surprised, how easy it cut the green hazel. The Lidl saw was about 20% less effective against the Aldi saw on the hazel cutting.
If I was to buy another saw for general use, I would go for the Lidl saw. It only costs about 50p more, it’s tougher and feels better in the hand.
Would be interested to see how they compare to a Silky or Laplander.

Hi Guys ALDI are getting some different types of saws in on Sunday they look ok I think a bit bulky but I think they could do some jobs a folding saw won't :)

I've never understood how Silky manage to charge what they do for folding saws. All the Forestry people swear by them but I've found that the blades don't last any longer than the more affordable saws ie Bahco, Wilkinson even these Lidl saws

I just think personally it just depends on what you do or how often you use it. For me it is not very often so the stuff they sell I find okay and its cheap so if it is good and I want some thing better I can get if not I havent lost a great deal of money :)
