    Richard Mabey has written some really great books on the subject ...
    "Plants with purpose" and "Food for free" (Collins gem) , to mention just a few, relevant to the UK.

    I am to lazy to bother with those things, and nothing bores me more than being out picking berries or mushrooms. I leave that to the wife, who never seem to be able to go outside without coming home with food...lol

    So I can at best identify 2-3 types of edible berry, and a couple of mushrooms. The rest is just grass, leaves and twigs to me.

    But fishing is something I love, luckilly I live on an island :-)
