    hello,
Bump.. Ok this is what I'm looking for the iron pyrites resembles "iron pebbles" not "fools gold". It is seemingly found in abundance on the Gower peninsula South Wales by all accounts.

Man , I'm keeping my eyes peeled for this stuff!!!

It's so difficult to find it, nobody sells it , most people don't even know it exists and theres not much info about it... it might as well be Adamantium!

I hope you find some soon!!!

    Good luck

    hello,
I'm declaring today a Bushcraft public holiday. Between the glorious Scottish weather +25C today & I've been given a couple of nodules of Iron Pyrites. (A wee dance around my friends room) A "stone kicker" I met up with today as part of a small Bushcraft group session presented me with a cloth drawstring bag of nodules, totally unexpected. I've got more larger nodules coming in the next few weeks from another resource. I've tried & tested the nodules today & they shew sparks Whoo Hoo.. we've been practising Bushcraft skills all day & we are out later tonight & hopefully tomorrow too. I've measured the nodules against a 5p piece to gauge the size.
    Regards
    David

    hello,
First we shall quench our thirst with Dragon's blood (Ale) I declare this day "Dragon blood day" national holiday..
"From the bonny bells of heather
    They brewed a drink long-syne,
    Was sweeter far then honey,
    Was stronger far than wine.
They brewed it and they drank it,
And lay in a blessed swound
    For days and days together
    In their dwellings underground."

    Hi David, found this article...

    http://www.primitiveways.com/marcasi...d%20flint.html

It's really good to shed light on the iron pyrites identification confusion ...

Also this free copy of a report on primitive fire apparatus from the US National Museum dated 1888 :
